The Order of The Sisters of Mercy came to Tuam at the invitation of Archbishop John MacHale in 1846. Today, most of the teaching staff are lay people. The original primary school was established in 1857. The present day facilities were modernised in the early 1980's. Number of teaching staff: 15 Number of Students: 160. Subjects: Irish, English, Maths, History, Geography, Social & Environmental Studies, Science, Art & Craft, Music, S.P.H.E. (Social Personal & Health Education) Computer technology, Religious education. This School is situated on Lower Dublin Road and is adjacent to the Presentation Convent Primary School. This School is accessible from the Dublin Road and the Cathedral Terrace where there is adequate parking. |
